Professor Stephen Williams was born and received his early education in Wales. After studying Modern History and Theology at Oxford, Cambridge and Yale, he was ordained into the Presbyterian Church in Wales in 1980 and was appointed to teach Theology at the denominational college in Aberystwyth. Eleven years there were followed by three years at a research institute in Oxford before taking up his present position at Union Theological College. Stephen Williams has published in different areas, including a recent work on Nietzsche, The Shadow of the Antichrist: Nietzsche's Critique of Christianity (Baker Academic Press, 2006). Professor Williams is married with three children.
