Principal Patton Taylor was born in Edinburgh and studied in Glasgow, Oxford and Belfast. After many years serving as a parish minister in an inner city Belfast congregation he was called to the Old Testament Chair in 1994. He brings with his expertise in Old Testament studies a wealth of experience in presenting and living the Gospel in urban environments. For seven years he was Convener of the Presbyterian Board of Social Witness and remains deeply committed to the working out of the biblical mandate for Christian social and community action. Professor Taylor is married with five children. His interests include squash, life-saving and sailing and enjoys active participation in College sporting activities. Professor Taylor was awarded the MBE in January 2007 for his ministry in the Territorial Army.
